Hi,

I am a physical therapist. Currently I am living with my husband and working in Austin,Texas (not as a physical therapist) since last 4 months. I recently got my licence to practice in Grand Rapids, Michigan and now have an offer from a company for a 3 month assignment.

They claim that they will give me $14.88 per hour that will be tax free. I will have to rent an apartment and a car.

My questions are

1. How will I prove while filing taxes that this component of my income was tax free.
2. Can I claim Austin to be my Tax home and claim tax deduction on relevant expenses in MI?
