Sound will not travel on the moon as there is no atmosphere for sound to travel. Sound waves need a medium such as air for the sound waves to propagate.

  2. Clara W Says:

Sound wouldn't travel on the Moon. Sound is a pressure wave that needs air to travel through (the way we hear it on Earth). The Moon has no atmoshere, so no pressure waves, and no sound. However, sound could travel through the ground, at about the same speed it travels through the ground on Earth (much faster than through air). But we don't usually think of this as sound waves.

Hi. There is no atmosphere so the sound would have to travel through the rock. Sound goes faster through rock so I would say something less than 5 seconds.

  4. Echo Says:

Sound won't travel on the moon. Sound needs to travel through matter, i.e. water or air, or it can't move at all. Since the moon is rock, and then just vacuum, sound would not travel there with nothing to move through. So, basically, forever and no time at all, all at once.
